The Integrated Career Pathways (ICP) Initiative

Background

The Integrated Career Pathways (ICP) Program, developed by the Centre for Migrant and Refugee Health (CMRH), is a workforce integration initiative aimed at empowering migrants, refugees, and population seeking asylum in Australia. Many individuals in these communities face significant barriers to employment, including unfamiliarity with the Australian job market, lack of local work experience, language barriers, and challenges in having foreign qualifications recognized.

CMRH recognizes the importance of economic independence and social inclusion for culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) communities. By providing tailored employment pathways, training, mentorship, and job placement opportunities, the ICP program seeks to bridge these gaps and ensure sustainable career success for program participants.

Expectations and Impact

The ICP Program is designed to achieve the following key outcomes:

Enhance Job Readiness – Provide participants with essential job search skills, resume writing assistance, and interview coaching.
Facilitate Employment & Career Growth – Connect participants with employers, internships, and professional networking opportunities.
Improve Workplace Inclusion – Work with businesses to foster diverse and inclusive workplaces that support CALD communities.
Promote Entrepreneurship & Economic Empowerment – Assist participants in launching small businesses through training, funding opportunities, and mentorship.
Boost Mental Well-being & Economic Stability – Secure long-term, meaningful employment that supports financial independence and well-being.

Target Audience

The Integrated Career Pathways Program is designed for:

Newly Arrived Migrants & Refugees – Individuals seeking to establish themselves in the Australian workforce.
Skilled Professionals with Foreign Qualifications – Those needing local accreditation or industry-specific training to re-enter their professions.
CALD Women Facing Employment Barriers – Providing targeted support to empower women in the workforce.
Young Migrants & International Students – Supporting career transitions from education to employment.
Job Seekers Interested in Entrepreneurship – Those looking to start small businesses or become self-employed.

How Do I Get Involved?

For Job Seekers:

Apply for the program through CMRH’s website or visit our community centres for registration.
Attend career counselling, training workshops, and networking sessions.
Get matched with mentors, employers, or business development support.

For Employers & Businesses:

Partner with CMRH to provide employment, internship, or apprenticeship opportunities.
Engage in workplace diversity and inclusion training.
Offer mentoring or coaching for participants.

For Community Organizations & Educational Institutions:

Collaborate with CMRH to provide skill-building and certification programs.
Host career fairs, networking events, and knowledge-sharing sessions.

For Volunteers & Mentors:

Support program participants through coaching and professional guidance.
Share industry insights and offer job placement referrals.
