The Centre for Migrant and Refugee Health (CMRH) is proud to announce the launch of a Citizenship Test Assistance Program, aimed at supporting migrant and refugee communities who face challenges in passing the Australian citizenship test. Recognizing the significant barriers many individuals encounter—such as language difficulties, limited access to study resources, and unfamiliarity with the test format—CMRH is committed to ensuring that aspiring citizens are well-prepared and confident in their journey to becoming Australians.
Statistics from last year highlight the urgency of this initiative: out of 183,000 applicants who sat for the test, only 122,000 successfully passed. Many of those who had failed comes from recent migrants and refugees in Australia. This underscores the need for accessible, tailored support to help individuals from migrants and refugees to navigate the exam process.
The Citizenship Test Assistance Program will offer:
- Personalized study sessions to cover key topics, including Australian history, values, and laws.
- Language support for individuals facing English proficiency challenges.
- Practice tests and mock exams to build familiarity and confidence.
- One-on-one mentoring and group workshops to address specific learning needs.
CMRH believes that citizenship is more than a test—it is a gateway to belonging, opportunity, and participation in Australian society. By providing structured support, the program aims to empower migrants and refugees to successfully achieve their goal of Australian citizenship, fostering greater inclusion and integration.
