The Centre for Migrant and Refugee Health seeks to implement education and campaign awareness on mental health and its challenges for South Sudanese Community in Victoria, Australia. This project will provide knowledge that will change perceptions and attitudes towards mental health through the provision of education and campaign to inform South Sudanese Community on the importance of individual mental health, challenges, and mental healthcare specific services available in Victoria, Australia.
Fundamentally, COVID-19 comes with a lot of challenges. Thus, it is crucial for the South Sudanese Communities as well as other multicultural communities to be able get educated about the implications of mental health.
Mental health within South Sudanese Community is a taboo and hard to talk about. However, experiences of mental health are immense, critical, and challenging, which requires community understanding through education and campaign.
The aim of this project is to inform community on the aspect of mental health, and it impact that requires partnership and collaborative approaches both from the community, local community organizations and the Victorian Government.
