Background and context
In Jan 2020 to 2021 has been challenging Coronavirus Disease (COVID-19) era in human existence around the World with more than 1million who have died from COVID-19. However, in Australia, specifically Victoria where there are more than 20,000 COVID-19 cases of which majority were recent migrants, refugee, socially isolated, vulnerable, and disadvantaged communities’ backgrounds who have been disproportionally affected by COVID-19, with the highest rate of infections within migrant, refugee, and multicultural communities. Thus, prevalence of mental health.
The conference is designed to seeks for support and advocacy for the improvement of mental healthcare and wellbeing of migrant, and refugee including multicultural community’s past, during and post COVID-19 in Victoria as well as around Australia.
Get involve to hearing of case studies, lived experience, research and insights from the federal government institutions, states, local government, agencies, and communities.
It is time to learn about interventions and techniques for caring for migrants, refugees, and multicultural communities and furthermore, gain strategies that you need to support and be an agent of change to provide new interventions for the targeted communities face with mental health issues before, during COVID-19 lockdown, adjustment to transition out of COVID-19 and adaptations during COVID-19 vaccination in 2021 and beyond.
The aim of the conference is to discuss the following topics:
- The mental health challenges and outcomes of COVID-19 associated with multicultural communities, including recent Migrants, Refugees, and Asylum seekers in Victoria.
- The Victoria Government Health Systems, Public Health Interventions, Practices and Policies During, Post COVID-19 and the implications of Mental Health.
- Progress Recommendations, Practices, Experiences, Lessons learned on the Victorian Government Mental Health Policy Options During COVID-19 and ways forward beyond 2021.
