The Centre for Migrant and Refugee Health (CMRH) was honoured to host Mr. John, CALD (Culturally and Linguistically Diverse) Manager from the Victorian Department of Health, at the Refugee Resource Hub. His visit marked a significant milestone in fostering collaborative partnerships between government agencies and community organizations dedicated to supporting migrant and refugee populations.
Mr. John’s engagement underscored his commitment to empowering CALD communities through targeted health initiatives. The visit facilitated meaningful discussions focused on enhancing access to vital health resources and information. As a direct outcome of these discussions, the Victorian Department of Health has committed funding of $48,000 to support a comprehensive COVID-19 Awareness and Education Campaign.
This initiative will enable CMRH to expand its outreach efforts, providing culturally tailored education on COVID-19 prevention, vaccination, and health management to some of the most vulnerable and underserved communities in Victoria. By addressing language barriers and cultural nuances, the campaign aims to ensure that all individuals, regardless of their background, can make informed decisions about their health and well-being.
The Centre for Migrant and Refugee Health expresses its deepest gratitude to Mr. John and the Victorian Department of Health for their trust and investment in this critical campaign. Together, we are committed to building a healthier, more informed, and resilient community.
